There are many reasons to have an active blog on your business website. Publishing informative blog posts is a great way to becoming essential to maintaining an online presence, convey your authority in your niche, standing out above the competition, and even driving online customers directly to call to action forms for further sales funnel. A blog is also a great place to share company’s product and services news and updates. These are great reasons to have a blog regardless of SEO. But for SEO specifically, there are plenty of other reasons why blogging is worthwhile. Here are the top reasons which a blog helps a business to nurture, and why you need one for your business too.

Google’s primary aim as a search engine is to give its users the best results it can. After the release of one of the much-awaited Google Panda Algorithm in February 2011, which mainly focuses on Duplicate, plagiarized or thin content, keyword stuffing, and user-generated spam. As per Google if every time we deliver/offer fresh content to the user then Panda will assign “Quality Score” to each webpage which is one of the key aspects of search engine rankings.

As part of this, it wants to point users in the direction of content which is current. For this reason, the freshness of content is one of Google’s ranking factors.

For small businesses that have only a handful of web pages, it can be difficult to keep your content fresh – especially if your business offers products and services that don’t change over time. Starting a business blog can be the ideal solution as it will place fresh content on your website on a regular basis. As a result, your site has more chance of performing better in search results.

Using keywords are still the foundation of SEO, but how the search engines like Google can understand the intent of a search which a searcher makes and their ability to match it up with relevant content has improved immensely over the years.

The search engines have hundreds of signals in their search algorithms that determine where a website/blog ranks for a specific query. One of these signals that they pay attention to is time spent on the website and obviously, bounce rate.

If a visitor hits the back button in their browser to go back to the search results or close the specific webpage immediately after landing on a website, it clearly wasn’t a good signal. If they spend some time on the site (browsing relevant videos or blog posts, for example), it conveys to the search engines that the website is relevant to their needs. This will definitely show a sense of trust among various search engines.

Having a blog post for your organization is significant for building awareness of the brand among online audience. Writing and introducing your product, service, or industry keeps you on your toes.
